What is a Gas Card?

The price of gasoline has been rampantly increasing and many people couldn't catch up to its recent price hikes. It's understandable that many would complain and some would do nothing about it, instead they just accept it for how much it is and pay the price. But for sure at the back of all their minds they are wondering how one could save money in terms of gasoline price. In come major credit card companies such as MasterCard, Visa and Discover to help many people save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars a year on gas.

A gas card is like a usual credit card that when you use this in paying for your gas you receive a rebate from the credit card company. This allows credit card holders to accumulate points and be able to convert it to cash, gift cards and the likes through the accumulated rebates they receive.

There are a few main kinds of gas cards from which consumers can choose from including: General Gas Cards, Business Gas Cards and Gas Card for Students. The general gas card is the most popular one it is intended for the use of the common individual. This is being offered by Discover® Open Road (SM) Card, Citi CashReturns (SM) Card, and Chase BP Visa® Rewards Card. The second one is the business gas card; this is intended for business use. It can help your business save lots of money when purchasing gas. Getting cash back is one of the many rewards that you receive when using this type of card. This card is made available by the following credit cards: Advanta Platinum Business Card with Rewards, SimplyCash® Business Card from American Express, The Chase Business Rebate Card. The last one is the gas card for students, this requires minimal requirements as to consider that it is students that are being dealt with, and it is offered to college and high school students. This is a good opportunity for students to establish a good credit history as well as save money on their gas. There are 2 types of gas cards according to the issuer; one is the card that is being issued by the gas station or the fuelling company itself. You may use the card anywhere within the fuelling company or the gas station that issues the card. These cards may still hold any of the 3 logos of the major company. The second type of card is the one that is being issued by the credit card company it could either be from Capital One, Chase Perfect Card, BP Visa and Discover. The card that is being issued by these credit card companies may be used at any gas station. You may use it from one gas station to another; this offers you great freedom and convenience, especially when traveling.
